Results come from deciding in advance, and then deciding over and over again, about what's best for your future once you get to that day. Welcome to Sincerely, Future You.

Okay, Happsters, here is your high-quality question of the day. What am I hoping to get out of scheduling? People come to me with all sorts of thoughts about time management, they understand that they need to or want to be better at time management, but they're not asking a high-quality question about the point of scheduling. I asked this high-quality question to my clients after they bring me a number of low-quality questions, including, is it worth scheduling? If I have young kids who interrupt me? Or can I even set deadlines, my work is creative, and I don't know how long it's gonna take? The truth is, you don't need reassurance of anything going your way, in order to decide what you're going to do in the future. You get to decide that even though the very nature of the future is unpredictable, and uncertain, that you're going to create your certainty. The only reason deciding in advance, aka scheduling, feels scary is because of what we make it mean if we're wrong. Are you scheduling and then showing up to it irrationally demanding that the people and the things are round you go perfectly according to plan in order for you to consider your day a success? Or you're scheduling a success? Your partner needs to be timely getting the kids out the door. Or you don't have time to be sick? I hear this all the time. Or are you scheduling with the goal of organizing, prioritizing, and assigning deadlines? Our brain thinks results come from doing it right. Having the perfect planner, and scheduling meticulously, which I teach you how to do in happening sessions, of course. But actually, the results don't come from having the perfect method of scheduling in advance. Results come from deciding in advance, and then deciding over and over again, about what's best for your future. Once you get to that day. Showing up entitled to your circumstances is the perfectionist way of using scheduling against yourself. It inevitably leads to burnout, resentment, a breakdown of your self-trust, and quitting. What if scheduling was just a way to organize your decisions and make room in your brain for the doing? What have you believe that nothing had to go your way today? And that you trusted that over time? If you simply scheduled and then created 10%. And that's at a very conservative estimate of the results that you scheduled? You'd have 100 times the results in a year. And that the failure to create that other 90% was totally worth it and just a part of the process. How often would you schedule then how many results would you create? Brilliant.
