All right Happsters, here's your question today. Am I willing to be wrong to get what I want? What I really, really want? Her brains want to be right. That's just what brains do. That makes sense. But what doesn't make sense is that our brains would rather be right, than get what we want. For example, if we believe that we're just bad at losing weight, our brain would rather us fail at a new weight loss program than succeed. I know you're like, No, I wouldn't rather fail than succeed. But I saw this all the time, when I was a fitness coach, people would come and resign to their beliefs about what was possible for them. Listen, I've tried everything I'll try. But you'll see I always gain the weight back, they would say to me, subtext, I'm going to prove to you that I can't lose weight. This might sound ridiculous, but we all do it. Specially in business. When a client tells me, I'm bad at sales, I can't delegate because my clients only want me or I don't have time to get it all done, you don't understand I have four kids, the first step to helping them solve that problem is for them to decide that they're willing to be wrong. You have to bring awareness to the fact that your brain has been arguing for your limitations, and therefore perpetuating those limitations. Only once you're willing to be wrong, can you access a creative solution? Until then, that one thought is going to be an immovable roadblock for you? You're going to continue to look for evidence at every turn to backup that limiting belief and you'll always find it. You'll make an offer to a customer here no and say, See, I'm just bad at sales. Once you're on a mission to be wrong about that belief, you'll say, okay, she said no. Why? What worked? What didn't work? What do I want to try differently? You'll ask high quality questions, but you won't even be able to begin to find the high quality questions. If you're not willing to be wrong about the way that you believe the world works about the way that you believe business works about who you think you are, that's currently limiting you. Then you'll make more offers until you get the result that you came for. It is so much more fun to improve your sales skills, and find new evidence that you are in fact, not so terrible at selling after all.
